About "King of the Clock" You
may or may not have followed my last advertising project "King
of the Bill," but "King of the Clock" picks up
where KOTB left off. With the KOTB, ads were sold with a starting price
of $1. Each consecutive ad was $1 more than the last. The concept
quickly grew a dedicated following as advertisers competed for the top
spot. During the peak of the excitement, several people offered
suggestions for making the idea better. Of course I couldn't really
change the original idea since ads were advertised as
"permanent," however, I stored all of these ideas away for
safekeeping. Two months
after the successful launch of the KOTB, due to popular demand, the
"King
of the Script" was born. This enabled people to purchase
and set up their very own KOTB style advertising based website. This
idea also had much success, and actually surpassed the KOTB in default
features and functionality. Next
up is "King of the Clock." KOTC is different in many ways from
its' predecessor. Personally I think it is a much more exciting concept
with the potential to continue for who knows how long. The concept is
again, simple. Advertisers can become "King of the Clock" by
paying $10. Once their ad is live, if somebody bumps it from the
"throne," they can simply "rebuy" the spot for an
additional $10. The price does not go up this time around! Considering that the KOTB pricing went over $100 per ad,
at $10 per "bump" I imagine many people will find this a much
more exciting "race" to the top. Anybody can rebuy their ad at
any time, so no ad is ever "safe" per say. The
twist? Sure rebuying your ad is cool, but the big change with KOTC is
the addition of a stopwatch. In true "King of the Hill"
fashion, when you become king, your clock will start counting in
realtime. If you are bumped and rebuy your ad, your time will CONTINUE
from where it was last. All ads on the site can be sorted by last
purchase date or time, giving advertisers even more incentive to keep
their clock ticking. (Ads on the front page may be limited to the last 10 or so
purchased) Last
but not least, the next version of "King of the Script"
(1.0.7) will feature the stopwatch feature of the KOTC, giving all users
the option of easily and painlessly creating their very own "King
of the Clock" style website. The script is highly customizable of
course, and can still be configured to run in the classic "King of
the Bill" mode as well. That's
it for explanations and history lessons. The "King of the
Clock" is now alive and ticking. Time is available for the taking.
